Well, it’s been a little while.
Life happened, you know how it is.
That particular kind of end-of-the-year-madness mixed with a big dose of moving-countries-again.
So there’s a gap in my Streaming and Perfectionist Klyne is tempted to go back and create posts so everything looks all neat & tidy…
But life isn’t neat & tidy.
Some months/days you read more than others and some months/days you just wake up and do the best you can, having to neglect the vast majority of your to-do list in order to stay sane.
Having said that, without further ado, here are some interesting tid-bits I’ve been reading & playing with during April:
◊ The Best Houseplants that Remove Pollution
-> Obviously I’ve just moved house and so my browser has been pretty full of articles just like this, helping me to transform our space into the sanctuary I crave…
◊ Himalayan Salt Lamp Benefits & Real vs Fake
–> See above!
◊ Most Candles Are As Toxic As Cigarettes
–> And again! (although I was already aware of this from my time working at an organic home/body store)
◊ 5 Amazing Indigenous Women to Celebrate Instead of Christopher Colombus
–> Honouring Indigenous women both past & present
◊ Teach Yourself Ear Massage
–> Trigger endorphins & boost your energy levels so simply & pleasurably (& check out Carole’s blog while you’re at it! Full of delicious offerings)
◊ 9 Empowering Mantras to Shift Your Mindset
–> Mantras have been around for at least 3000 years and I am constantly finding myself blown away by the power of words and the vibrations behind our choices of language.
From this article, my particular favourite is- “I am grateful for all that is unfolding in my life and all that is yet to come”
◊ Does Your Daughter Know That It Is Okay To Be Angry?
–> This is an amazing article and very worth reading. Exploring the social constructs & gender roles that keep women from being able to healthily feel & express their anger
“Girls, taught to ignore their anger, become disassociated from themselves”
I resonate on many levels with what this article discusses and really hope we can begin to make real changes to the way we allocate “appropriate” emotions on both girls and boys.
◊ The Modern Witches of Poland
–> I was sent this article by a very, very special friend of mine and I remember thinking when I received it how MAGIC it was that I had managed to cultivate such deep & meaningful friendships in my life and that they know me well enough to send divine articles such as this my way…
◊ All About Blue-Light Filtering Options for Better Sleep & Less Eye Strain
–> Another rabbit-hole of information I’ve been exploring this month! I’ve downloaded ‘Twilight’ app for my Samsung Galaxy phone & f.lux for my computer. Now to buy some orange glasses to wear around the house at night (pretty sure my husband is going to divorce me but whatsagirltodo)
◊ The Spiritual Consequences of Alcohol Consumption
–> Definitely not an article for the faint-of-heart, but a pretty fascinating and thought-provoking article especially coming from a culture that is very alcohol-centric…
The word “Alcohol” comes from the Arabic “al-kuhl” which means “BODY EATING SPIRIT”, and gives root origins to the English term for “ghoul”
◊ The Integration of Traditional Mayan Medicine & Conventional Medicine in Guatemala
–> A fascinating look at how traditional Mayan Medicine practices are being integrated with modern medicine practices in rural Guatemala, with great success. Could this (so far) success story be an exciting look at what the future may hold for various traditional medicine traditions..?
“In the Mayan system, symptoms are like a door and you can open that door and see all this myriad of different issues that are happening to the person,” says Ana Vides-Porras
